Michael has been a Partner of Nyman Linden since 1978 and Senior Partner since 2001 when he succeeded Eddie Nyman - the firm's founder. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
Whilst responsible for the overall strategy and management of the firm, he has built up a substantial portfolio of clients across many business sectors. Michael's clients enjoy his 'hands-on' approach to helping them and their businesses achieve their potential. His professional work extends to general, financial and commercial advice. Michael works with business clients from start-up enterprises to long-standing, multi-million pound concerns. He is also the Partner responsible for IT and has been instrumental in developing the firm's in-house computer systems.
Michael is happily married to Linda. Since their grown-up children have left the family home he and Linda can spend more of their leisure time playing bridge. But Michael's real passion outside the office remains Arsenal Football Club.
Michael graduated from Bath University with an honours degree in economics and then qualified with a 'top 20' firm where he focussed on taxation. As a successful Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales it was not long until Michael was invited to become a Partner of Nyman Linden in 1982.
He soon recognised an opportunity for the firm to provide a service to independent consultants working here in the UK. Nyman Linden very quickly became recognised as the leading firm in this business sector. Within a few years more and more clients (both SMEs and independent consultants) were requiring support outside the UK. Michael used his creative talents and abundant energy to build an international division within the firm. He is an acknowledged expert in his field and is now the first point of contact for Partners and clients wanting to explore the benefits, as well as understand the pitfalls of operating overseas.
What has always been important to Michael is maintaining a healthy balance between work and his family. He and his wife, Natasha, share a love of dancing - their speciality is the lambada! This has required regular visits to the gym. They also share a love of the arts, often frequenting the West End theatres and cinemas.
Andrew is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. He qualified in 1972 and within 4 years became a Partner in a North London practice. In 1985 Andrew accepted an invitation to join Nyman Linden as a full Partner. As the Compliance Partner, he ensures the firm is quick to respond to new legislation and push the barriers of interpretation for the benefit of all the firm's clients.
Andrew believes in building a personal relationship with clients and providing a service that goes beyond that of an ordinary accountant. He has extensive experience of providing accountancy, auditing and business advice for small and medium companies and partnerships. In particular, he has a large number of clients in the IT contracting sector.
He balances his busy working life by enjoying reading bridge, working out in a gym and cooking for his wife, Paula - a qualified social worker - and their two sons.
Raj's parents emigrated to Yorkshire after the Second World War. Through hard work at school and then at university Raj graduated as a mechanical engineer before deciding to become an accountant. His formative training was with KPMG and he soon qualified as a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. Raj joined Nyman Linden in 1993 as the firm's audit and accounts manager. His success in that role soon led to him being invited to become a Partner. He now runs the audit and accounts teams as well as wears the important mantle of Staff Partner.
Raj has built up an impressive portfolio of clients ranging from self-employed individuals to companies with multi-million pound turnovers. He also has a large number of clients in the IT contracting sector. Raj has considerable experience and involvement in taxation and company statutory matters. He believes in striking the right balance between dispensing technical advice and empathising with a client's needs.
Despite his work commitments, he keeps himself in good physical condition by regularly playing football and, ignoring good advice from his colleagues, remains an avid supporter of Leeds United. Raj is also a lover of good Indian food and in another life may have been tempted to spend his days as a chef. Raj is married to Gita his childhood sweetheart.
